I’m in the Channel
End of chapter! Heh heh.
My weekend is about to be devoured by Pokemon Sun, my wife falling into the mouth of Moon. Team Rowlet for life!

“We gave a really good upgrade the really cool guy”?
Next week’s comic featuring Zhusen in sunglasses, leather jacket and a pompadour
Wait, “end of chapter”
So is the expansion coming out?
Proofreading is for people not frothing at the mouth for new Pokemon games.
Pokemon!
Can Zhusen become a Tunnel Snake?
(Robin, I think you left out a word in the first panel — shouldn’t it be “to” a really cool guy?)
For folks who think folks like Zhus don’t exist, meet my husband, everyone. He’s gotten better, but he still passes up too many upgrades and cool stuff because he thinks others want them more.
Imagine being a Verdrana-type married to a Zhusen. But somehow, it works. 🙂
YOU left word out!
(…Fixed.)
Sorry…Ilmate’s comment wasn’t showing when I did my comment; it showed me as first/only commenter. Must be some timing weirdness on the site.
**Imagine being a Verdrana-type married to a Zhusen. But somehow, it works. **
Yes, it does. 🙂
Anyways, great work as always, Robin. See you in the comic pages.
It takes lots & lots of brownies & coffee…but yeah, it works.:P
Deus, for a second there I read the title of today’s strip as “End Of Line”.
I’d say that this makes me a nerd, but frankly, that’s always been obvious.
Zhusen gaining some confidence…and seeming embarrassed Keran may have heard him…. Am I reading too much into this…probably, lol
Zhuker sails on.
Could Zhusen’s player be a woman? With “cool guy” in italics and the alt text, it’s possible.
Would fit, too. Especially given the role of gender in one of the first major story arcs in this strip.
Furthermore, “Zhusen” is pronounced the same way as “Susan”. At least for me
Definitely did sound kind of foreshadow-y, didn’t it?
If they’re in voice chat, wouldn’t they (most likely) have a sense of Zhusen’s gender? Unless there’s more twistiness in this story…
It’s not always possible to tell. I’ve lost track of the number of times I called a man “ms” and a woman “mr” in customer service. and it’s happened to me tons; I’m female, but too many men calling in thought I was a guy.
Also, possibly trans!
I know I just get annoyed at correcting people who don’t know me and tend to roll with all the “she” and “her” and stuff, because yes I get it I was assigned female at birth, and I have the added bonus of having a “adorable” feminine voice. Doesn’t help I just PREFER “female” toons (though RP wise there gender is that half the time) since they are vaguely more realistic looking and not Hulk Monsters With No Wrists By God Where Are Their WRISTS.
And if you aren’t on a LGBT friendly server, or have a LGBT friendly guild, it’s hard as heck to come out sometimes. Ugh.
No one gives a fuck what your sexual orientation is online unless you bring it up constantly. That’s the only reason people will mess with you outside of just being a dick. Soooo. You may want to rethink some of ehat you say to people.
Alphonse, are you on a different internet than everyone else?
Alphonse,
1: Being trans is not a sexual orientation
2: What Robin said.
Also, you might want to sit down, take a few breaths, and wonder why you are so hostile to the idea that trans people, in a world where people flip out if we use the correct bathroom, might have a *teensy* bit of trouble online at times. You seem a lil’ sensitive about that.
There are also programs and even some chat programs that allow you to change pitch/tone and what not of your voice. So could just be altering that as well to hide the fact.
Had a (what we assume was a grown male) using something of the sort to try and sound like a teen/young 20ish female. They would say they were in game if someone asked. It used to crack out all the time and you could hear his real voice. We just ignored it and let him carry on doing their thing.
Just remember…It is always the quiet ones…
So next strip is where we find out that Zhusen is a convicted serial killer who’s being allowed to play WoQ as part of his rehabilitation and reorientation process right.
Would love to hear all of their professions. Fully expecting Zhu to be a war vet or biker or yeah, a reformed serial killer.
Lys working in customer service would be glorious, with her desperately trying to rein in her temper.
Keran has a degree in literature or something similar, right?
Vedrana would be a manager or team leader wherever she works. Or the opposite, and RoQ is her leadership outlet.
Theron would have something surprisingly serious and proficient (government work or maybe science) or be NEET.
And we already know about murd.
Whorehan seems like he’d be in law.
I wont even try to guess Castor
Serial killer would be too serious & would really turn folks off the character, I think. However, an Iraq War vet (either Desert Storm or the current ongoing one) would work — or even someone who’s over there currently & playing via his/her laptop.
I have no idea if military security regs would allow that, though.
Theron has to be an IT guy — but someone who works in a job that needs basic social skills, instead of an all-night, all-the-time coder.
Whorhan wouldn’t be in law. Someone in law or politics would consider online MMOs too frivolous to bother with. My guess is that he’s a frustrated middle-manager of some big corporate retail store that’s basically a dead-end — he knows he’s going nowhere with his life, so he takes it out on others in-game by being a control-freak.
Castor is a gray-hat phreaker, college-age (young enough to not think twice about being an ass, old enough to have social engineering skills).
Keran either has a degree in literature or an English degree…with side helping of communications. She runs a fan-blog with her fanfic & lore hypotheses, remember? My guess is that she’s working on becoming a published writer, since she has enough skill to know what makes good/bad RP story-telling. 🙂
No guess on Verdrana. I’ve run into her type of personality a lot in cubicle farm jobs, though, usually as a team manager.
wait…..your portrait changed!
I concede to your logic, your speculations make a lot more sense.
It would depend on the country and available online access. I’m currently serving overseas and while I can websurf without much issue, logging into WoW is another story. The security settings prevent access to the Battle.net client, so I’ve been having to wait or, as I did today to get the anniversary pet, take my laptop off post on a MWR trip(MWR being Morale, Welfare and Recreation…in other words, not something I can do on a whim during my time off shift)
Good to know, Varkas. In hindsight, I wasn’t even sure if US military were allowed to bring their own personal laptops with them.
