I love using ground mounts for my main. I will look forward to getting flying for my alts so I can grab all those treasures that I couldn’t be bothered to find while leveling them. (I got all treasures and rares on my main as I leveled her.)
It did ruin all the ground mounts (especially the faster ones) but that meant Pandora’s box was open, why go back to trotting around like a peasant when you could FLY?
I don’t mind no flying IF THE GEOGRAPHY SUPPORTS IT. As it is, WoD and Legion require flying after a point. Aura art is horribly set up, high mountain and stormheim are both hellish. It is not fun trying to run around to all the world quests or treasure chests on foot. Flight paths take longer to go than flying would because of the pathi g that geography. Basically, don’t make a zone like vanilla Azshara or the fucking storm peaks/Netherstorm and then not give us flying.
Amen. I also play FFXIV, where flying was recently added, and then only for specific zones. I did not miss it before and didn’t mind the ground mounts…but their geography design supports ground travel. You can find things and get to basic gameplay things without ripping your hair out in frustration.
WoW’s Legion and Draenor though…GAH. There’s too many basic quests and world quests that would try the patience of God just to GET to, too many roadblocks and BS geography just to even travel between quest hubs. For exampl, Val’Sharah’s Lorathil and the werewolf village have NO direct route between them; you have to detour all the way around the zone, and there’s several WQs tucked in that area between them that are simply inaccessible unless you find some easily missed hidden path under a big tangle of tree roots and overhanging rock…or you don’t mnd taking massive falling damage.
By that logic you don’t necessarily need flying mounts, just better flight paths.
I really don’t have a problem navigating either so each to their own I guess. :S
You can’t use FPs to get to most WQs. Those things lie between the FPs, in areas that are nearly inaccessible unless you happen to spot a way thru the tangle of underbrush, rocks, tree roots, cliffs, or up the cliffs to that one overhang. Val’sharah is the WORST.
I don’t mind lack of flying mounts tbh. What I want is corpse flying. Walking to your corpse is a chore especially after falling into cliffs. Corpse flying increases convenience without detracting from world design, because are you seriously gonna walk and enjoy the view as a disembodied soul?
I want to say we’ve seen Vedrana’s sandals before, maybe while she and Keran were camping for the pally horse? I’m not sure and I don’t have time to go down the rabbit hole and look for it. Every time I do that I wind up spending two hours going through half the archive and giggling to myself >.>
Oh man that punchline hit me 😀
Sometimes I think I’m the only one in WoD and Legion who liked using ground mounts.
I loved ground mounts! flying rips any game immersion from me like a squealing potato-baby.

I don’t mind that there’s no flying mounts in the game.
Right? I’ve never played wow, but it just seems like it’d ruin all of the ground mounts and make manual travel boring as anything.

Second panel shirtless muscle man looks aaaaangry 0.o
Yeah I wonder what he/I/whatever is/am/whatever pissed about.
They took away his flying mount with the latest expansion

I feel that the layout of Val’sharah is very immersive in that it accurately reflects the incompetence of the druids that shaped it.

Again, I don’t mind ground travel is the zone deaign supports it. Fucking corpse flying ahould be permanent though.
Is it just me or did anyone else have no clue that verdrana wears flip flops?
They aren’t flip flops. They’re Caligae.

… But then what were those majestic flying owls?
Those are automated flight points between cities. I… suppose that’s not a thing in new MMOs, huh?
