A Year of Experience

Today Experience Boost is a year old.

So that’s neat. I’m still enjoying the crap out of making this comic, and apparently there are people who enjoy reading it. I think that’s a good combination. I’m not quite sure what to do as far as marking this minor occasion, so here’s an art comparison between Keran’s first appearance and her most recent:

Oof. Try not to look directly at the left half of that image.

Hey, if you’ve enjoyed this first year of Experience Boost, why not spread it around? Share on the Book of Faces or Twitt about it? Over in the right-hand column there I’ve got some buttons for this purpose. (Sorry, there are no keybinds for them.) If you’ve got an entry on the Book of Faces, why not give the Experience Boost page a like?

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all you readers and commenters. I enjoy making Experience Boost, but what makes it worth doing is that you read it and enjoy it. I’m excited every time I see that there’s a new comment on a comic, and I can’t wait to see what people are talking about. Trying to guess what’s coming next, asking questions, coming up with awesome nicknames for horrible characters. It’s great and I love every bit of it.

Welp. I better get back to drawing tomorrow’s comic.

So Experience Boost has made it through its first year. I think it’s only the first of many.

Elder Scrolls Online

First, a confession. I stopped playing Guild Wars 2 about a week after my last post on it. I did some WvW, got up to level 60 on my guardian, but I just got really bored really suddenly. Somewhere between the lore, the gameplay and the graphics, it just didn’t grab me long term.

Now, Elder Scrolls Online lifted the NDA on its beta this past weekend, and I got sent an invitation. This was my second beta weekend, the first was troubled by server woes, and I didn’t get to play much. This time, with the NDA lifted and a code to invite a friend to play, I gave it another go.

Let me say this before I begin: I’m a sucker for Bethesda RPGs. Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim have easily eaten over a thousand hours of my life. I’m primed to like any game in that style. If you hadn’t guessed, I also really like MMOs. I’ve sunk even more time into various MMOs than into Elder Scrolls and Fallouts. So this is a game of two great tastes that I really enjoy.

But, for me, they don’t taste great together.

Home Is Where The Hearthstone Is

I got into a couple of Betas recently, and I can talk about one of them (the other has an NDA as long as my arm). So here’s some thoughts on Hearthstone.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, in case you somehow don’t know, is Blizzard’s Warcraft-based online card game. It’s in closed beta currently, and going into open beta in the next month or two. When it launches, it will be free to play.
