Every time someone asks me if I’m a girl IRL, I tell them I’m a 50 year old trucker named Bubba with a beer gut and halitosis. It tends to shut them up pretty quick.
So though I quit WoW a few months back I for the five and a half years I played had almost exclusively female toons even though I’m a male. Simply because I wanted to look at something pretty.
In real life, I’m a guy with a wardrobe that can fit in a single dresser drawer. My Draenei priestess needs about three more void storage tabs for all of her transmogs.
I’ve never understood the “be a girl” thing. I play wow for the same reason I played paper and dice D&D, to throw fireballs or beat stuff with a big hammer. No urge to be a woman lol.
I’m posting a year after this went up so no one will probably read it, but I’ve never, ever run across this. I understand why it happens and have run across people who where sexists jackasses, but I’ve never met a female player who felt they had to hide the fact. In fact a large percentage of the best players I’ve ever known are female (Fully half of my raid leaders!) and have never hidden it in any way. Maybe I’m just on a really, really awesome server?
your theory is probably close to the truth or something like it.
The thing is that alot of toxic people will show themselves early and so new players will get out of bad guilds quickly. But there are several out there that can attest to being in a good group and then after speaking up in teamspeak things got worse.
Either way, when listening to Hearsay, its best to assume the victims are the ones who are telling the truth. Many people who do harm often dont even realize they are doing anything wrong, so of course they dont think they are doing anything wrong.
as a girl WoW-player, I know exactly how it feels lol
As a guy who plays both male and female avatars this is very accurate.
As a guy who only plays female toons – I know the feeling.
Just found the strip and loving it so far. Great work! Zhusen looks like a nice guy to me

There’s an interesting dichotomy at play…
No matter how far we think we’ve come, some things haven’t changed. *sigh*

Isn’t that the excuse all of us used at one point or other?

That question reads very different in hindsight.
I mean its a pretty common eggs-cuse for picking a girl character. Get it… I will see myself out.. of this closet.
