For those who don’t get the NOTP, its the opposite of an OTP. Which means One true paring, a typical fan pairings. That means she believes that it would NEVER EVER happen.
I’ve found the best way to teach someone about a NOTP is to ask if they’re a Star Trek fan. If they are, you need only ask “What are your thoughts on Riker/Troi and Bashir/Dax?” One or the other will definitely get someone to say “What? No. That’s… Oh. OH!”
There are other good fandoms you can do it in. LotR is great for it. Harry Potter has seen wars started for less. But Star Trek is the most recognizable one, I think.
The best part is, it usually works! They can see one working, but the other will trigger the response the leads to understanding, and you can never be sure which person will have which pairing as the NOTP, but it will always be one of them!
Poor angry ghost Keran.
If this were a shounen her pure rage at this point would bring her back to life in a fiery hell explosion that kills most of the enemy.
But I’m pretty sure she’s a lore-based shipper, which means the ship has to somehow be plausible in the context of canon lore — two characters having only met once would rule that out.
So, having forgotten Salazar’s exact appearance, when I first looked at that last panel I mistook his shoulder jewel as representing another character (maybe dead like a Nelf wisp, or maybe representing someone logged in to chat via an app), just hanging out and reading over Salazar’s shoulder and doing the gasping. The different colored bubbles helped with that.

Thank you!!
That was my next Google Search after clicking on comments! Thanks for posting.
You sir deserve an internet cookie and the top post here. Alas I can do neither for you T_T
Link to the rescue for us old folks… thanks man 🙂
I feel my icon is appropriate here. Like I’m reading the definition off a piece of paper for all y’all.
…soooo
What is it with girls who are fans of stuff (because the word fangirls is loaded) and slashfics?
It’s pretty much many guys finding two girls kissing hot, and many girls find watching two guys kiss hot.
That’s how I’ve had it described to me.
*Snooty guffaw* The term you’re looking for is fujoshi… *Guffaws again* They’re the female equivalent of neckbeards.
I’m trying to think of what my NOTPs might be for various things I like. It’s more difficult than I expected.
Ooh, that’s a good tricky thought exercise. Two characters that might be together conceivably, but I’m completely opposed to. Hm.

Oh my gods, J, yes. Thank you. Riker/Troi is something I could get behind if they did it well, but Bashir/Dax was always a no for me.
Agreed. Bashir could do better than that condescending asshole.

Excuse you the only true Bashir romance is Garak.
Ooh, yeah, I see it.
(I do give TNG points for breaking up their OTP in later seasons experimentally, though).

Vedrana with the Phoenix Wright pose! I can hear “Cornered” playing in Panel 2. All she needs is to slam her palms down on the desk in there.
I was certain no one was gonna catch that one. Good eye.
The “I can prove it!” clinched it for me. I straight up said “Is that…? Oh… that’s great for the scene. Good show.”
No tapping the browser window with a sheaf of other browser windows? 🙂
That one’s reserved for when Orhan tries to keep up the lie.
Along with the declarative point.
“My god, even her NOTP was a lie. We truly didn’t know her at all.”
Also:Only meeting once, neutral interaction, age difference: makes no difference to shippers. All must be sacrificed at the alter of basic decency.

Thus is the first time shipping has actually saved someone’s reputation.

You are too clever for me, Robin. I had to google NOTP and Phoenix Wright to understand what everyone is talking about.
How many times have I read this and am *just now* noticing Keran is dead?
