Sounds like RoQ customer support is ran by old Jagex, slow and unresponsive back in the day. Can’t speak for now since I haven’t played RS in nearly a decade.

Granted I blame it happening thanks to my uncle coming over to visit for the holidays and I had to give up my PC for him to use by my parents…. >.> Yeah found a lot of unwanted BS downloaded and I wouldn’t be surprised if a keylogger got by my virus scan.
But even with that youed think an authenticator would have safeguarded my wow account. Nope.
if your talking about WoW an authenticator wont do squat to prevent your account from being hacked. for about a year i had my account stolen at least 6 times, all they had to do was put in my email address and say my email acct was compromised and lost the authenticator please remove it from the account and change the email on the account. each time i had to call them prove i was who i said i was and i ended up losing 500k gold in wow because of it. how i got it to stop was i searched for the email of Michael Morhaime (blizz ceo) and sent off a polite but irritated email explaining my issues and their lack of security (i had account notes saying not to change anything without calling me directly and they were ignored) ect. I got a call from one of the supervisors of the help desk and had a chat… my email was changed (not gonna describe in what way ;p ) the name on my account was changed to “see account notes” ect.. haven’t had an issue since. yes it did suck for a while there having to fight for my account constantly… but they made it right in the end
I’m gonna call bs. I’ve had an authenticated since the molten pup for it cut. Never been hacked. Only way for someone to hack it is by having a picture of license and tassord. They can… god too drunk. What he freeing word. Reverse something it. Blah.
you can call BS but it 100% happened, authenticators do nothing against shitty support employees it just takes a gullible employee who believes whatever sob story they come up with.

Any security that can be circumvented is no security at all. In this case, Blizz allows people to submit support tickets to remove the authenticator… rendering it useless, because a well-engineered support ticket plus a gullible GM equals a compromised account.
Just because it has never happened to you doesn’t mean it never happens. Maybe your account just isn’t interesting enough.
